Life comes at us, sometimes at warp speed and sometimes slowly quietly creeping in.
During the in-between spaces, I am instinctively pulled towards my studio to find solace and serenity. Just standing in the inspiring g space calms and settles my spirit.
I will paint and collage, letting the images speak when my words cannot. Every brush stroke, every color lifts my heart’s heaviness. There is space for the big exhale. I turn to creating to ground me, to hold me, to calm me.
When I facilitate a painting workshop I watch and sense the serenity each student is feeling….no one talks…there is quietness and life’s volume is turned down.
It has been repeatedly said, Art Heals, Art Saves.
I urge you to pick up a crayon, marker, pencil, brush and make marks….anything that will allow your feelings/thoughts to spill onto the paper. Feel your shoulders drop and how your breath softens. Find the time, find the place and be kind to yourself.
